Did You Call Me?
===========
God: Hello. Did you call me?
Me: Called you? No... Who is this?
God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers.
So, I thought I will chat.
Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good.
I am actually busy now.
God: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.
Me: Don't know. But, I can't find free time.
Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.
God: Sure. Activity gets you busy.
Productivity gets you results.
Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.
Me: I understand. Yet, I still can't figure out. By the way,
I was not expecting YOU to call me on instant messaging chat
God: I wanted to solve your fight for time, by giving you some
clarity. In this internet era, I wanted to reach you
through the way in which you would understand.
Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?
God: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis makes it
complicated.
Me: Why are we constantly unhappy?
God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about
yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing.
Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not
happy.
Me: How can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
God: Uncertainty is inevitable. Worrying is optional.
Me: There is so much pain due to uncertainty.
God: Pain is inevitable - it will come. Suffering is optional,
you can choose.
Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people also suffer?
God: Diamonds cannot be polished without friction.
Gold cannot be purified without fire.
Good people go through trials, but, don't suffer.
With that experience, their life becomes better,
not bitter.
Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?
God: Yes. Experience is a hard teacher.
She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.
Me: Still, why should we go through such tests?
Why can't we be free from problems?
God: Problems are purposeful roadblocks offering beneficial
lessons to develop strength.
Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance,
not when you are free from problems.
Me: Frankly, in the midst of so many problems,
we don't know where we are heading...
God: If you look outside, you will not know where you are going.
Look inside.
Looking outside, you dream.
Looking inside, you awaken.
Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.
Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than
moving in the right direction. What should I do?
God: Success is a measurement decided by others.
Satisfaction is a measurement decided by you.
Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying.
You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.
Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far
you have to go.
Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.
Me: What surprises you about people?
God: When they suffer they ask, "Why me?"
When they prosper, they never ask "Why me?"
Everyone wishes to have truth on their side.
Few want to be on the side of the truth.
Me: Sometimes, I ask, "Who am I? Why am I here?"
I can't get the answer.
God: Seek not to find who you are, but, to determine who you
want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are
here. Create it.
Life is not a process of discovery.
It's a process of creation.
Me: How can I get the best out of life?
God: Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.
Prepare for the future without fear.
Me: One last question. Sometimes, I feel my prayers are not
answered.
God: There are no unanswered prayers. At times, the answer is
"NO."
Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat.
God: Well, keep the faith and drop the fear.
Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve.
Trust me.

The Gunas
According to the Sankhya philosophy, Prakriti is composed of three Gunas or forces, called Sattva (purity, light, harmony), Rajas (passion, activity, motion) and Tamas (inertia, darkness, inertness, inactivity).
Guna means a cord. The Gunas bind the soul with a triple bond. These Gunas are not the Nyaya-Vaiseshika Gunas. They are the actual substances or ingredients, of which Prakriti is constituted. They make up the whole world evolved out of Prakriti. They are not conjoined in equal quantities, but in varying proportions, one or the other being in excess. Just as Sat-Chit-Ananda is the Vedantic trinity, so also the Gunas are the Sankhyan trinity.
Interaction Between the Gunas Leads to Evolution
The three Gunas are never separate. They support one another. They intermingle with one another. They are intimately related as the flame, the oil and the wick of a lamp. They form the very substance of Prakriti. All objects are composed of the three Gunas. The Gunas act on one another. Then there is evolution or manifestation. Destruction is only non-manifestation.
The Gunas are the objects. Purusha is the witness-subject. Prakriti evolves under the influence of Purusha. Mahat or the Great (Intellect), the Cause of the whole world, is the first product of the evolution of Prakriti. Ahankara arises after Buddhi. Agency belongs to Ahankara. It is the principle that creates individuality. Mind is born of Ahankara. It carries out the orders of the will through the organs of action (Karma Indriyas). It reflects and doubts (Sankalpa-Vikalpa). It synthesises the sense-data into percepts. The mind takes part in both perception and action. There is no separate Prana Tattva in the Sankhya system. The Vedanta system has a separate Prana Tattva. In the Sankhya system, mind, with the organs, produces the five vital airs. Prana is a modification of the senses. It does not subsist in their absence.
Characteristics of the Three Gunas
Sattva is equilibrium. When Sattva prevails, there is peace or tranquillity. Rajas is activity which is expressed as Raga-Dvesha, likes or dislikes, love or hatred, attraction or repulsion. Tamas is that binding force with a tendency to lethargy, sloth and foolish actions. It causes delusion or non-discrimination.
When Sattva is predominant, it overpowers Rajas and Tamas. When Rajas is dominant, it overpowers Sattva and Tamas. When Tamas is predominant, it overpowers Rajas and Sattva.
How Man Is Affected by the Three Gunas
There are three Gunas in every man. Sometimes, Sattva prevails in him. Then he is calm and tranquil. He reflects and meditates. At other times, Rajas prevails in him and he does various sorts of worldly activities. He is passionate and active. Sometimes, Tamas prevails. He becomes lazy, dull, inactive and careless. Tamas generates delusion.
Again, one of these Gunas is generally predominant in different men. A Sattvic man is virtuous. He leads a pure and pious life. A Rajasic man is passionate and active. A Tamasic man is dull and inactive.
Sattva makes a man divine and noble, Rajas makes him thoroughly human and selfish, and Tamas makes him bestial and ignorant. There is much Sattva in a sage or saint and there is much Rajas in a soldier, politician and businessman.

It is the third largest and the oldest religion of the World. No one is actually
certain how old is Hinduism but it can be said with certainity that Indus valley
civilisation contributed some ideas to Hindu religion. The earliest known Hindu
scriptures are the "Vedas". Vedas describe the religion of Aryans, who invaded
India around 1500 B.C. The Vedic religion was not Hinduism although hindus consider
Vedas
as their scriptures. Of the Hindu "Trinity" Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver,
and Mahesh (Shiva) the destroyer only Vishnu's name appears in the oldest Vedas. The
concept of Trinity dates back to 500 A.D. Around the same time, the importance of
goddess began which appears in many forms of Shakti (Shiva's consort). However,
Upanishads
which were written several hundreds years later have characteristic Hindu ideas of
unity of soul with Brahman, karma, reincarnation, and salvation (Moksha- escape from
reincarnation). The notion of class and caste which was absent in Vedas starting appearing
during this period. Hindus are mainly divided into three groups i) Shivites, who are devoted
to Shiva, whom they consider as their creator and preserver of the universe
ii) Vaishnavas, who assign the above roles to Vishnu and iii) Shaktas, who worship Shakti.
These divisions of Hinduism are not very rigid as in other faiths and it is not strange
for people of one belief to mix with others. The Hindus do not form congergations and mostly worship at home. They worship other God and Goddesses as well as these are considered as another reincarnation of main Hindu Gods. As a result, the major Gods and Goddesses are worshiped in many names and forms. Hindus have little missionary feeling because they believe that the proper way to become a Hindu is to born one. Hindu rituals cover all areas of a person's life.
Hindu society has a high standard of conduct, with little immorality, crime, or violence.
UNIQUENESS OF HINDUISM
1) Celibacy (bramacharya)- student life i.e. acquiring knowledge.
2) Family life (grihastha)- enjoyment and prosperity and participation in
running of society and the nation.
3) Retirement (vanaprastha)- delegate responsibility to younger generation to
perform selfless social service.
4) Renunciation (sanyas)- complete renunciation of the world for union with God.
